SHOFU

The all metal Shofu hand piece has a two bearing air driven turbine.  It is designed to be used 8 hours a day 5 days a week.  All parts in the Shofu are replaceable or rebuildable.  The Shofu hand piece while quiet and powerful has a lightweight well balanced construction for maximum hand comfort.   It delivers dependable high speeds to 360,000 rpm at 33 psi air pressure.  The Shofu tool uses less than 1 scfm at 33 psi.  It has 3 small exhaust ports at the front of the tool, to help keep any dust off the work area.  The rest of the air is exhausted at the top of the tool near the plunger.  The specially designed, high output bearings require no oil in the tested oil free tool.  (You can choose the older style oil tool which requires a minimum oil by spray every 4 hours of use.)  Bits are put into the tool by simply pushing them in until they stop.  A bit is removed by pushing the plunger on top of the tool until the bit falls out.   The collet is 1/16 inch.

Bits:  The bits included in the kit are the ones that I have used the most over 13 years of carving/engraving.  They include: diamonds, carbides and green stones.   I use a few other bits, but these are by far the most popular. 

Bit Caddy:  This caddy holds 72 bits.   It is labeled for the 34 bits that come with the kit.  The rest of the caddy is blank to hold extra bits.

Clip Art:   The art included in the kit is copyright free and is art that we have used over the years. 

Thistle:  This is an awesome tool for cleaning any and all bits.  You simply put the bit in the hand piece,   run the hand piece at a slow speed and hold the bit against the brush.   It is by far the best tool I have found for cleaning bits.

Particulate Respirator:  We include the type of respirator that has the exhaust valve on it so you do not fog your glasses.  It is very important to wear some type of respirator when carving/engraving because the particles being created are very small and tend to float in the air. 

Safety Glasses:  These safety glasses are very comfortable and the length of the arms are adjustable.   You should always wear eye protection when engraving/carving.

Owners Manual:  The owners manual has some instructions for carving/engraving, maintenance tips, bit identification, appliqué film instruction, and a catalog.

Regulator Stand:  Our stand is made of solid poplar with holes in the top to hold the bits you are using for your current project.  It has a moisture resistant finish. 

Gun Stock Carving Book:  Whether you ever touch a gun stock this book has 100’s of photo’s showing you exactly how to do carving in wood.  It includes fish scale, basket weave, scroll work, and animals.  It has many pieces of art in the back that are ready to copy or print onto the appliqué film for carving.
